Thomas Bækø
Chief Operating Officer since 2018
Thomas joined Sydvaranger Gruve in January 2009 when the company transitioned from the study phase to the operational phase. He then transitioned to the role as Production Manager on a large iron ore project in West Africa from 2011 to 2013. From 2014 until November 2015, he served as Process Manager at Sydvaranger. He rejoined the project in 2016, first as Project Manager and later as Chief Operating Officer.

Eirin Hansen
HSEQ Manager since 2022
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering and a Technical Engineering degree in Food Technology.
Eirin joined Sydvaranger in 2020 as Senior Environmental Engineer. She has previously worked as a Quality Coordinator and Quality Advisor, and has extensive experience with best practice standard certifications, as well as developing HSE management systems and monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Marius Aaen Svendsen
Maintenance Manager since 2018
Education: BSc in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Maintenance and Operations Engineering.
Marius originally joined Sydvaranger Gruve in 2013, where he worked as Department Manager for Maintenance Planning until 2015. He then moved to Sibelco, where from 2015 to 2016 he held the position of Technical Manager at Åheim while also acting as the roll-out champion for Lean Maintenance in Norway.
Anita Kurthi
HR & Admin Manager since 2019
Education: Master’s degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Labor Law and Change Management .
Anita has over 20 years of experience as a personnel manager at various levels. She has experience as a project manager for both development and operational projects, and has also led numerous implementation processes.
Jan Erik Nilssen
Purchasing Manager since 2019
Jan-Erik has been part of Sydvaranger since 2009, where from 2009 to 2016 he worked as Production Coordinator for the processing plant, Department Manager for Mechanical Maintenance, and as a mechanic during test production. From 2017 to 2019, Jan-Erik focused on mapping and selling obsolete parts from an older inventory, before becoming involved in the establishment and development of the company’s Procurement Department.
Oskar Lindelöf
Chief Financial Officer since 2024
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Economics with a specialization in Accounting and Auditing.
Oskar has extensive experience in accounting from his time in audit at EY, and also possesses specialized expertise in finance within the mining industry, having previously held the position of Group Controller at Boliden.
