GRANGEX AB (publ) (”Grangex” or the ”Company”) is pleased to publish a Non-Technical summary of an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (”ESIA”) for the Sydvaranger mine located in Kirkenes, Norway (”Sydvaranger Mine”). The ESIA has been completed by SLR Consulting Ltd (”SLR”) and provides a comprehensive and structured description of the potential environmental and social impacts associated with the restart of operations at the Sydvaranger Mine.
The ESIA is the first comprehensive environmental and social study completed for the Sydvaranger Mine and aligns with Grangex’s stated strategy to operate in a sustainable manner for the benefit of all stakeholders. The ESIA complies with Norwegian and European standards.
The scope of the ESIA includes the entire Sydvaranger Mine operations, from mining to processing and includes assessment of emissions to air, soil and water as well as social factors. The ESIA includes the results of recently completed studies by independent specialist consultants retained by Grangex.
Christer Lindqvist, CEO of Grangex states: “I am very proud of the extensive work our team, together with SLR and other experts, has put into the ESIA. It forms the basis for a new sustainable era in Sydvaranger’s history. The results provide us with a stable foundation for our continued environmental and sustainability work as we enter into operation. The conclusions of the ESIA provide Grangex with clarity in its planning for the restart, so that the Sydvaranger mine can deliver on our commitments and minimise environmental impact.“
The Non-Technical summary is attached to this press release.
