Environmental sustainability will be achieved by fostering internal and external environmental awareness and exercising rigorous control and compliance over our industrial activities. This will only be possible by working closely with the local community, our neighbours, our employees and other stakeholders, and by acknowledging the competence residing in all stakeholders.
Here are some of Sydvarangers' key objectives to ensure a responsible and future-proof operation:
- Optimize and systematically manage water use to reduce negative impacts from emissions and water consumption
- Work to preserve and protect local ecosystems and endangered species by minimizing harmful activities and providing compensation where disturbances occur. In the long term, we aim to contribute to a net positive biodiversity
- Promote circularity and identify opportunities for alternative uses of by-products
- Use the best possible methods, raw materials and techniques, with the aim of minimizing the impact on the environment.
- Work continuously and systematically to minimize emissions and work to eliminate the risk of unplanned emissions. We will work to minimize waste production and to find uses for waste – where possible.
- Initiate an open dialogue with the local community and authorities about environmental challenges. Employees and others we communicate with must be informed that our product is manufactured in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Work towards optimizing energy use and reducing emissions from the company. We will work to replace fossil energy sources with renewable energy sources or electricity.
